Hollowbody, Headware Games’ retro-styled survival horror game, arrived on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on June 4 after first launching on Steam in 2024. The console release includes all post-launch updates and additions released for the PC version, bringing the full experience to a new audience.
If you missed it on PC, Hollowbody is like Silent Hill and classic early-2000s survival horror, filtered through a distinctly British setting. The game follows Mica, an unlicensed black-market shipper searching for her missing partner inside an abandoned exclusion zone. After a crash leaves her stranded, survival becomes a matter of scavenging resources, solving environmental puzzles, and fighting through increasingly hostile territory while looking for a way out. That survival horror framework is paired with a tech-noir mystery involving surveillance, isolation, and the lingering consequences of a society that has already collapsed behind the scenes.

Headware Games is faithful to genre classics: cinematic fixed and dynamic camera angles, limited resources, and environmental puzzle solving. The game also features full voice acting and carefully spaced save points designed to maintain tension without becoming overly punishing.
Having played the original Steam release on Steam Deck, I came away impressed by its atmosphere, setting, and commitment to classic survival horror design. The praise it received feels well-earned. The console version launched at $16.99, and it's an easy recommendation if you missed it on PC.
