Overhatched Early Access Impressions

Overhatched is undercooked.

Going to keep this one short and to the point. I was sent a key for Overhatched, which seemed like an adorable item for a game. 1-4 players work in coop to manage a facility to hatch, raise, and ship dinosaurs. I think this is a fantastic idea for a game with a lot of potential. This was created by game dev and publisher Ironforged Studios, and appears to be there first game. It launched into Early Access on August 21st, 2026.

Simply put, this game needs more time in the oven fixing bugs and refining features. I spent about half a hour with the game, and that was enough for me. First off, the over world map is weirdly hard to navigate with a vehicle that is difficult to control for as far as I can tell, no good reason. It took me 4-5 attempts to get over the bridge. If this was a timed section, I'd somewhat understand, but it's just the hub world that connects to the levels.

Another problem that was evident from the start was the fact that my game simply does not look like the screenshots. Everything in it was incredibly blurry, making it hard to make things out and unpleasant to look at. I should note, my computer is no slouch in the specs area, so this was very surprising.

Furthermore, I tried two levels and found them poorly explained. There's a single pop-up that illustrates all the steps, but that was it. I would have liked some additional help in the actual stage, like possibly something that could be toggled on or off.

And just…I hope it will be a fun game. There's just too much wrong with it right now and I absolutely cannot recommend it in it's current state. It should not have launched in this condition, and until things drastically improved, I'm giving this one a big old "AVOID."
