Skopje '83 [Review]

Skopje '83 is an enjoyable game, particularly if you have the time to complete a full run, as it offers an interesting combination of survival and roguelike genres. The graphics are a strong point; visually, it has a style similar to Borderlands. The gameplay is 7 Days to Die with a Borderlands twist. I was also impressed with the implementation of the bus system and the sleeping mechanic. Unlike many games, players can move freely around the bus while it's in motion without any technical issues. However, the game has significant areas that need improvement. The key issues are: No Save Feature (from what I can tell, I could not find one), there is no way to save progress, meaning every session must be a new run. If a player needs to stop playing for any reason, all progress from that run is lost, which can feel like a waste of time, especially since it's easy for a run to be 2 hours. Lack of Player Visibility: It’s difficult to track where co-op players are. Even when friends are nearby, there's no on-screen indication of their location, requiring constant checks of the map. Implementing a player ping or displaying names above heads would greatly resolve this. Poor Direction and Objectives The game lacks clear direction on where to go or what to do next, leading to a lot of time spent simply wandering. Overall, while fun, the game needs updates to address these core issues.
