Time to Morp [Review]

Time to Morp is a very neutral and cozy game where you build up your base and resources. After arriving in a new land. The captain of this new land gets his intern (you) to do pretty much ALL the chores of resource gathering and creature discovering. The local fauna is made up of adorable little blob-like creatures named Morps. The creatures are more useful than just looking cute too, they produce supplies you can use to build! You can simply build an enclosure and if you have the right Morps, they will collect items in the area for you!

The goal of the game is pure atomization to get resources to grow your new civilization. The Morps are the first step. Getting items from a third party gives the player plenty of time to explore the area. The map is Quite large and there are several different Morps to discover out there. The best part is that the game is co-op! So, if you were feeling a bit overwhelmed with how much you have to do you can actually have someone explore with you. This will just double your production! Unfortunately, I didn't have anyone to play this game with so I will not include any co-op elements in this review.Just a quick disclaimer, tend to find automation games a tad bit repetitive. I like a more hands-on approach to farming games, I like to do my tedious and repetitive chores myself rather than having some assembly line or auto miner do it for me. That’s what I look for in farming games but in all honesty Time to Morp isn’t that. It’s far heavier on the automation than not, you tend and care for your Morps and they will produce the materials you need. These materials are what you use to build virtually everything in the game.

I still enjoyed Time to Morp but I will say I was expecting a more traditional farming game. If you’re looking for one this might not be for you. Now, if you like automated farming games where you are more encouraged to explore than farm then this game is absolutely for you. Time to Morp encourages more of an exploration play style, you even get fast travel right off the bat. At any point, you can fast-travel back to the ship where the NPCs are. The best thing to do is to set up a Morp pen with a chest and head off. While exploring and gathering materials the Morps will mine supplies and automatically put them in the chest for you. Time to Morp may not have been what I was expecting but it is still a fun game and could probably occupy a group for a good amount of time just by exploring. Just know that it isn’t a traditional farming game.
