The Pull! [4.30.25]
New Comic Book Day! My favorite day of the week! You know what else is special about this week? It is FREE COMIC BOOK DAY this Saturday May 3rd! Tons of free comics for current or new readers to pick up and enjoy! Before that though, let’s see what is on The Pull this week!
Dynamite starting it off this week with Red Sonja VS The Army of Darkness #1! I love the Ash and all his scary hi-jinks but between you and me. I have never read any Red Sonja, I’ve wanted to but just never taken the leap into her vast library of comics, today I change that as I pick up this comic and give it a shot! It feels like this will be the gateway into Red Sonja comics, maybe it will be yours too!
Image Comics up next with Lost Fantasy #1, classic tale of another world full of monsters, magic and fantasy living underneath our feet was discovered 100 years ago but these monsters aren’t friendly and for the past 100 years hunters have been keeping them at bay but something broke free and it is up to your rookie hunter protagonist to save the day!
I do my best to always show Cover A’s for the images because that is the one most people will see but I want to show Cover B for Lost Fantasy because it is FF7 inspired, and man do I just love it! The artist for it is Alex Diotto!
Boom! Studios and R.L. Stine are back at it again with another installment of The Graveyard Club: Fresh Blood #1, one this that I really liked about the original Graveyard Club was that it was oversized and had a spine, retailing for $9.99. With that spine it was able to be sold at all retailers so you could just walk right into a Barnes & Noble on day 1 and pick it up! Making it easier to read this series which is just good R.L Stine romp! This new book stakes place after the first one and the club is trying to solve a missing persons case, but hopefully they can figure it out before they go missing too!
From DC this week it’s Detective Comics 2025 Annual #1, a one and done Batman Mystery Story is an awesome way to get me to read a comic! Batman seems to be at a lost trying to solve this new case and it seems that time is running out, maybe for him, maybe for someone close to him but he hasn’t given up yet!
Last but certainly not least, Marvel with Godzilla vs. Spider-Man #1, now I am a Spidey fan just like most people but even I can’t think of a way that Spider-Man can take on the King of Monsters and live to tell the tale. Now with the VS Hulk #1, Godzilla himself got to HULK out. I wonder if this time Godzilla will get a symbiote?? That would be cool!
That is, it for The Pull! this week! Good comics, great stories, beautiful art and just a good time all around! I hope you find joy in one of these recommendations and if you have any for us, please let us know in the comments!
