Hirogami is a striking 3D action platformer inspired by origami. Players control Hiro, a master of the art of folding from Shishiki Village. Hiro can fold himself into forms such as a frog, ape, armadillo, and more, to traverse the world and face the game’s challenges.

From Steam:

Explore a beautiful origami world as Hiro, a fan-wielding master of the art of ‘folding’. Embark on a mystical journey to save your fragile home from deadly digital invaders. Take on animal forms to traverse the landscape, solve puzzles, overcome enemies, and save the realm.

What immediately grabbed me about Hirogami is how well-executed the visual style is. Everything looks as if it has been meticulously folded from paper, and it goes beyond a simple visual gimmick; the world feels genuinely fragile, with trees, rocks, and creatures all crafted with visible creases and folds. It's one of those games where you'll stop just to rotate the camera and appreciate the scenery.

Hirogami received a major update on Steam in late October, and it’s now available on the PS5. The update is a response to player feedback. Adjustments include:

  • Fixed camera angle adjustments

  • Lower requirements for unlocking late-game levels

  • Reduction in overall enemy HP and rebalanced combat

  • Shortened charge time for upgraded abilities

  • More frequent checkpoints

If you haven’t checked the game out, now is a great time as there is a discount on both platforms.

Hirogami is available on Steam and PlayStation 5.
