NBA on the Run (Review)

NBA on the Run is a new attempt at a Street Basketball Game, and it’s an utter disappointment. It relies heavily on washed-up jokes from the African American community that many people today may not understand. The game is filled with obnoxious sound effects and has subpar gameplay that falls short of the greatness of the NBA street games of the past. The worst part is that NBA on the Run is an online-only game with no depth or substance. Players can only play it online, and it requires an online membership to access it. In other words, if you aren’t paying for PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live, you can’t even get past the “Press A/X to start” screen.

There isn’t a practice mode. There isn’t a story mode; there isn’t any character creation or really any mode other than just playing online. The gameplay is extremely simplistic and doesn’t offer anything new or exciting compared to other NBA games. It’s essentially a bite-sized version of a game that’s designed to be played on a phone. In conclusion, NBA on the Run is a game to avoid unless you’re looking for a quick and mindless game to play with a couple of friends.
