Agent 64: Spies Never Die [Review]
Agent 64 is a true love letter to the Nintendo 64 era, masterfully recreating the era’s signature graphics, floaty movement, and distinctive camera sway. Most importantly, it perfectly captures the spirit and feel of the GoldenEye experience. My group and I had a fantastic time with the game, especially while playing in couch co-op.
The story campaign takes about four hours to complete, with plenty of PvP content to enjoy afterward. The multiplayer suite includes classic Deathmatch and two King of the Hill style modes: Briefcase Capture, where you must hold the Briefcase for a set duration, and Zone, where you control specific map points. Additionally, the game features a variety of challenges against bots, allowing players to unlock new maps, characters, and more.
Across 14 missions, you’ll explore diverse environments like a skyscraper, a nightclub, and a museum, all of which provide a fun variety of locations to relive your GoldenEye sequel fantasies. The game serves as a perfect time capsule, recapturing the joy of playing N64 titles with friends. The highlight is undoubtedly the four player co-op support throughout the entire campaign. Agent 64 is an absolute must buy, and it feels like a missed opportunity that such a perfect homage to the N64 hasn't made its way to the Nintendo Switch yet.
