Whimside [Mini Review]
This monster breeding simulator has a very cute art style, which, to be fair, draws heavy inspiration from classic creature games like Pokémon, Neopets, and Digimon. The core gameplay loop involves an initial 1-2 hour setup of the "idler" component to minimize frequent checking, after which the game becomes a waiting game centered on breeding.
While the art and concept are interesting, the novelty quickly fades within an hour. It primary function is as a background activity ("something going on at the bottom of your screen"). Players can also enjoy customizing their in-game homes and world with furniture.
A significant drawback, particularly for an idle game meant to be played while the user is otherwise occupied on their PC, is the surprising lack of content depth; nearly all available content can be completed in under four hours. Many games like this exist, so it's a bit jarring to see one that isn't engaging for a long period of time. 4/10
