Dark Atlas: Infernum [Review]

Dark Atlas: Infernum offers a compelling horror experience, marked by impressive visuals and a captivating plot. The game is highly narrative-focused and reminds me alot of titles like Outlast and Amnesia: The Dark Descent. The lore is significantly expanded through various collectibles, including tarot cards, notes, and audio recordings. However, players must actively seek out these items, as the main story can become confusing without the context they provide. The core gameplay loop is centered on exploration with relatively easy puzzles. The game's presentation and atmosphere are exceptional. Players are given the option at the start to choose between a standard gameplay mode or a 'story mode' that replaces most chase sequences with occasional jump scares.

The "Hide-and-Seek" chase sequences that the game attempts to incorporate are not executed well. Additionally, the initial experience was hampered by a frustrating encounter with a floating red monster. Being near this creature causes the screen to freeze around the edges, and on a few occasions after being killed, the respawn point was directly on top of the monster, leading to immediate subsequent deaths. Overall I like this game It dose have a bit of jank but for 14.99 this game is a good outing.
