Trust No One [Review]

Trust No One is a short adventure that forces you to think outside the box.

Trust No One is the latest game from Ukranian studio Triomatica, developers of the award-winning Boxville. I will admit I was yanking my hair out playing this one.

The game is a 2D illustrated point-and-click adventure played from a first person perspective. You are a journalist trying to research an AI company after being contacted by a whistleblower. When you arrive at the Kyiv train station to meet with your contact, he’s nowhere to be found; he decided to flee, but thankfully he left a note for you. Now you must follow a trail of breadcrumbs he left behind to get the scoop you were promised.

I had a really hard time solving the puzzles in this game, but I won’t spoil why, because it’ll spoil a big surprise in the game; it’s a big part of what makes it unusual. I had to look at a video walkthrough posted by the developers in order to unblock myself after making it through the first couple locations. I do think the conceit of the puzzles was a bit unfair.

If you know the puzzle solutions, this is a game you can finish in fifteen minutes. If you’re like me, it’ll take you quite a bit longer. Either way, it’s priced at just $1.99 on Steam. I think that price is well worth spending if you’re looking to tease your brain a bit.

Trust No One is available now for PC on Steam.
