Swords Magic and Stuff [Review]
Swords Magic and Stuff, a charming open-world RPG from Kindred Games, allows up to four players to embark on adventures involving exploration, questing, building, and enjoyable combat. From what we can tell Swords Magic and Stuff is inspired by titles such as Breath of the Wild, Minecraft, and Animal Crossing. The game starts on a small island that eventually leads to a large mainland ripe for discovery. The game's delightful blocky art style establishes its lighthearted atmosphere. Character creation offers surprising depth, including diverse races like orcs, ents, and goat people. The narrative quickly establishes a cartoony tone through both its visuals and dialogue, exemplified by an early encounter with an orc who desires to escape a life of warfare. This consistent tone makes players feel central to a cartoonish adventure.
Gameplay features include crafting, Fishing, gathering, and the development of varied character builds utilizing numerous weapons. A notable aspect is the grid-free housing system, which boasts hundreds of unique collectible furniture items for extensive personalization of player plots. This housing system in particular was enjoyed immensely by Mia (Another writer for The Geekly Grind). Drawing parallels to Zelda, players can use consumable potions, bombs, Bows and various other weapons for battle and possible puzzles or roadblocks and enemy difficulty scales with progression. Several crafting skills, such as blacksmithing, carpentry, tailoring, cooking, farming, and alchemy, can be leveled up. With seamless multiplayer, cosmetic customization, and rewarding exploration alongside a wealth of content, This game give so much to do and offers hours of gameplay. A console release with split-screen functionality would be amazing! “Hint Hint Nudge” So lets hope this happens in the future. Swords & Magic and Stuff provides a fulfilling gaming experience and stands out in this crowded gaming world. Swords Magic & Stuff is absolutely a hidden gem that needs more eyes and discovery.
