Space Scum Open Playtest Goes Live on Steam, September 2nd 2025! [Press Release]

A Battle Brothers inspired space adventure! This seems up my alley. Might have to check it out! - Janette/PossumCoffee

September 2nd, 2025 - Dive into a universe filled with murderous enemies, and the worst villains space has to offer. The tactical, turn-based RPG Space Scum is now available to the public for an open playtest!

Players are invited to explore the first of many planets that will be available in the full title, and outwit the deadliest threats the 'Verse can throw at them. By building a rag tag team of deadly mercenaries, you can fight to become the universe' most infamous scoundrels.

About Space Scum

Space Scum is a tactical, turn-based RPG, set across multiple procedurally generated planets, ensuring no playthrough is the same - though they all exist in the same gritty, Sci-Fi universe. You'll choose your own custom origin and encounter different environments, enemy types, factions and missions, all based on where you go and what you choose to do. Of course, when all the choices are yours, so are the consequences...

Recruit new members to your team, gain skills when they level up, and be sure to equip them well for each battle you fight - dealing with a pack of the local Varanus won't be the same as facing off against a squad of Imperial soldiers. And remember: nobody's getting back up when they go down, so when you lose people, you'd best start looking to replace 'em. Can't lead a squad of Mercs if no-one's left standing.

"We're not the heroes of our story, but we will be the ones to tell it..."

Key Features

  • A selection of different origins, factions and a procedurally generated universe ensures that every playthrough is unique with its own events and challenges;

  • With an emphasis on the Sci-Fi setting, you'll have to build a balanced team equipped for both melee and ranged combat if you want to survive the more deadly encounters;

  • Earn experience and rewards to level up your Mercs, get new skills and buy better equipment - a rusty shotgun can only last you so long;

  • Death is permanent, so as you recruit more members throughout your journey, be prepared that not all of them will see the end of it.
