About Skyformer
Skyformer is an original take on open world automation. Players take control of a humble robot sent to a distant planet on a mission to make the world habitable for its creators.
As part of stabilizing the climate, players must build factories to process existing resources on the planet. Maps are divided into regions with their own microclimates based on geography and world climate. Each region has unique resources to process with factories into the materials you need to terraform the planet. Factory placement in the world matters and the surrounding environment is tied heavily into the gameplay.
As the player terraforms, the accessible regions will be expanded, unlocking new resources. There will be various types of storms that the player will have to survive as the climate changes. Players can set up systems to collect weather data, forecast the path of storms, and prepare and protect their factories from them. As players progress they'll discover new technologies to increase their defense, transportation, automation, and survival capabilities.
Key Features
Automation: Create systems to mine and process materials in automated pipelines, and design automated defenses to protect factories from storms.
Base Building: On land, players build bases for survival, crafting, and transportation purposes. In a skybase above, players build a data center, send rockets into space to collect materials, and operate the terraforming machine.
Terraforming: Players use the materials they produce to transform the climate and maximize habitability. This will allow vegetation to grow, produce different types of weather challenges, and allow access to new areas and resources.
Dynamic Weather: The game simulates weather and allows players to forecast and prepare for upcoming storms. With access to a weather map displaying data collected from weather stations, players can track winds, temperature, radar, and clouds. The maps are divided into different regions that have their own microclimates based on the geography (e.g. altitude, latitude, surrounding terrain) and current world climate.
Survival: Upgrade your player's capabilities such as charge and health to increase your survival abilities and explore wider areas. Shelter in your bases from storms. Utilize both manual and automated methods to protect your buildings.
