Rocket Squad: Infinity First Impressions

Rocket Squad: Infinity is an engaging yet challenging extraction shooter, with a difficulty meter exactly like Risk of Rain but without the humor or heart. While the graphical presentation and core gameplay mechanics are fantastic. The game's progression system relies solely on acquisition of relics, An awful mechanic that is the reduction of earned currency every time you reload or use melee action or really anything in this game other than running and jumping. Just about everything you do in this game takes away currency and you can go into the negative. Each class possesses unique abilities, but no customization for weapons or abilities. Consequently, The variety of enemy types is limited, the wheel enemy is also relentless and infuriating.

The game's optimization is poor, and exceeding the recommended spec doesn't guarantee better performance, which appears inconsistent across different players. For instance, someone I was playing with was below spec and experienced slightly better performance than I did while being above spec. The unhelpful sensitivity slider negatively impacts aiming precision for controller users. Controller aiming feels sluggish, making that playstyle practically unviable. Despite wanting to enjoy the game, my current experience is negative, although a fellow player liked it considerably. Given the early access status, there's hope that these issues will be addressed in future updates, at which point I will revise my review and information.
