Cloudheim [Demo Impressions]
In Cloudheim, a 1-4 player action-adventure game, Ragnarok has shattered the world, and players are chosen by the gods to shape the next. This game combines crafting with chaotic combat, where players awaken forgotten deities, fight corruption, and upgrade their sky shop
“through generic base building that's in literally every pc game under the sun” to restore harmony to a broken realm.
While the controls are responsive, movement and combat are often airborne rather than grounded, making non-air combos frequent. These airborne issues only happen because the characters are quite lofty and floaty. The current demo offers four classes with variations in long-range or strength, and I anticipate greater diversity in the full release.During the demo, we encountered a bug that halted movement, leaving characters stuck in place while attacking. Luckily, locking on still worked, which made the first boss fight particularly "interesting." Despite these flaws, Cloudheim was very fun. I appreciate the character models and overall aesthetic, and the combat, leveling system, puzzles, and other RPG elements are excellent. While the demo had several broken moments, it effectively conveyed the final product, and I am pleased and eager for more.
