No Rest for the Wicked [Impressions]

Moon Studios, renowned for their work on Ori and the Blind Forest and Ori and the Will of the Wisps, presents No Rest for the Wicked. I am thoroughly impressed by its atmosphere and engaging gameplay. The year is 841 TE. King Harol is deceased, and to compound the tragedy, the Pestilence, a thousand-year-old unholy plague, has resurfaced.

You embody a Cerim, a mystical holy warrior endowed with extraordinary powers and sworn to eradicate the Pestilence. This mission becomes increasingly complex as you find yourself deeply involved in the suffering of the populace and the intricate political struggles of this beleaguered land. As you strive to purify the land and determine the kingdom's destiny, chaos will pull you in every direction.

The game boasts stunning visuals and exceptional craftsmanship, as expected from the Ori team. Its captivating world-building and intricate level design are particularly rewarding for explorers and are among the best I've encountered. The animators have surpassed expectations, mirroring their excellent work on the Ori series. The world, despite its gritty and dark undertones, maintains a tasteful vibrancy.  Also, it's worth mentioning that the immense weapon variety offers players a diverse range of combat styles. Although it seems like there are very few differences in classes. A few downsides are the occasional lag, frequent screen freezing, and FPS drops. Luckily, this is an early access game, and everything is subject to change and be fixed. Soon, No Rest for the Wicked will be released on consoles and have 4-player co-op. I will be triple-dipping into this game once co-op is added. I'm hoping a Nintendo Switch 2 release is planned. No rest for the Wicked offers an exceptionally amazing experience. Once the game is out of early access, I will be conducting another review for the full release.
