Egging On [Review]

Egging On is a challenging, Monkey Ball "only up" game, where the players are a fragile egg with (1HP). The ultimate goal is to "Escape the hen-house."  The core challenge is to climb higher without falling and breaking,  made more intense by its extreme, yet "disgustingly accurate," egg physics that are sure to frustrate players. The game is non-linear, encouraging multiple runs with various paths, some harder, some easier, and some faster, to make the experience more interesting. Players can also hunt for hidden collectibles, which often mark useful shortcuts. The game is also "packed full of easter eggs" (pun intended by the devs, I'm sure). The level design is clearly crafted with "lots of love and care," avoiding the "AI slop" or thrown-together look of other similar "only up" games on the market. Although Egging On can be ridiculously difficult and can be frustrating, it is also highly addictive and provides a rewarding sense of accomplishment.

The game boasts near photo-realistic graphics, which look "wonderful on PC." Although I wanted to sit in my living room rather than in front of my desk, so I played it on the Xbox Series X via Game Pass (and noted it didn't look quite as nice as the PC version), the visual quality is still high. Furthermore, players can customize their egg, allowing them to choose options beyond a standard chicken egg, such as a "Game of Thrones egg." Egging On is currently available for Xbox Series Systems, Steam, and PlayStation 5, and is "coming soon to the Epic Games store." Take a “crack” at it! This game had me “cracking up.” I know I'm on a “roll”, all puns aside, this game is highly recommended and is an “eggs-traordinary” game that’s “Hard to beat”……..just try to land “sunny side up”.

Also, this game would be absolutely amazing with Online play or split screen, just saying. I’d give it a 15/10 at that point.
