Len's Island [Review]

Len's Island is a crafting survival game much like Valheim and The Forest. Like The Forest, players can build defences against the forces wanting to do harm to you and your crew. The game is quick to start, encouraging players to learn through exploration. A significant convenience is the indestructibility of all weapons and tools, eliminating durability concerns. Building is largely unrestricted, with surface limitations eased by complete freedom within the expansive, open, and often gapped dungeon areas. Base building has to be my personal favorite part of this game.

The core of Len's Island lies in exploration, which is why the co-op mode shines. From the moment you spawn, gathering resources and venturing into the dungeon are immediate priorities. The vast, empty spaces, especially within the dungeons, benefit greatly from multiple players, increasing the amount of ground that can be covered efficiently.

Building in Len's Island is straightforward, though a mouse is recommended over a controller for navigation. Material collection is equally simple: just strike the desired resource until it breaks. A helpful detail is the realistic tree physics; felling one can trigger a chain reaction, bringing down other trees it hits, allowing for rapid material acquisition if trees are perfectly aligned. Len's Island offers a compelling base-building survival experience, particularly enjoyable in co-op.
