The Karters 2: Turbo Charged - A Kart Racing Game That Delivers [Review]

The Karters 2: Turbo Charged stands out as a kart racing game that draws inspiration from titles like Crash Team Racing and Sonic Racing, rather than directly emulating Mario Kart's distinct style. One of its most impressive features is the sheer variety of game modes available. With 16 racing tracks, 6 battle arenas, team racing, and innovative original modes such as Road Breaker, the game offers a wealth of content. It even includes modes similar to Mario Kart World, like Eliminations, with more to be added.

A significant advantage of The Karters 2 is its robust mod support. Players can download custom levels inspired by Mario Kart and Crash Racing, recreated levels from other games, and a vast array of player-made characters and courses. This feature is a game-changer and is likely to be key to the title's long-term appeal and community engagement. I played the game as Mega Man for this review.

I would confidently declare this game the best kart racing experience outside of the Mario Kart franchise, surpassing even the latest Sonic Racing Crossworlds. It's a fun and polished kart racer that perfectly captures the exhilarating feel and enjoyment of Crash Team Racing. The controls are incredibly snappy, responsive, and satisfying, contributing to a fluid and engaging gameplay experience. The Only Downside is that the preloaded content is not so great, although this is a moot point since you can add content for free.

I thoroughly enjoyed playing The Karters 2, particularly in local multiplayer with friends, which was a blast. While the option to take local players online exists, I didn't personally try it. The game performs well, boasts an abundance of content, and features great music and graphics. For those familiar with the kart racing genre, The Karters 2 offers a well-rounded and exciting experience. Its standout features include Steam Workshop mod support, unique game modes, and a diverse range of activities that ensure continuous engagement.
