Whirlight No Time To Trip The heroes riding their tie machine through a ciolotful time warp, Imaginary Lab / Vsoo Games 2026

Whirlight: No Time to Trip is a wonderfully fun point-and- click adventure game developed by Imaginary Lab and published with Vsoo Games. A straightforward point-and-click interface puts adventurers at the center of a fantastically whimsical science-fiction story. It is built using splendid graphics and sound-design. Those two elements comprise many wonderful settings, which are home to many memorable characters. These delightful denizens task adventurers with brain-twisting puzzles that fit the story like a hand in glove. Adventurers will have fun when they play Whirlight: No Time to Trip.

I played Whirlight: No Time to Trip using a mouse and keyboard. Pressing buttons gives adventurers power over every action. Left clicking on a spot on screen causes the character to walk there. If the spot is interactable (hotspot) hovering over it reveals its name. If the hotspot is an object, left-clicking on it causes the character to bend over, grab it, and add it to their inventory of usable objects. The inventory normally isn’t shown on the screen. Accessing it requires pressing the middle mouse button or pressing the “I” button on the keyboard. Right-clicking on an object provides its description. Discerning adventurers may learn clues about its proper use from the description. Left-clicking on an object readies it for use in the game. Moving the item over a hotspot attempts to use it there. The characters inform adventurers if their gambits are successful. Sometimes it’s necessary to combine items. This is done by left-clicking on an item, moving it over a perspective partner and releasing the button. Characters let adventurers know if they are successful.

One of the ways the characters learn about how their items may be used is through conversation. Left-clicking on a character reveals a list of phrases. Left-clicking on one of them employs the selected phrase in conversation.

When it’s time to take a break, the interface allows respite from the adventure. Pressing "Escape" and left-clicking on “Save Game” allows adventurers to save their progress. The command brings adventurers to a series of slots. There are twelve of them. One of them saves automatically when adventurers quit the game by selecting “Quit” from the menu. Adventurers load the game by pressing “Continue” to start again where they left off, or they can choose “Load Game” and select one of the twelve save slots, which are organized by date and time. It would be easier for adventurers to acclimate after breaks if they could type distinctive labels for their saved games.

Adventurers use this strong, robust interface to guide inventor Hector May,, and later his assistant Margaret Harck, as they embark on an adventure that expands the boundaries of space, time, even imagination itself. The breathtaking graphics pull adventurers into Hector’s world.

Time travel is an integral part of this story. Hector and Margaret must master its secrets to forestall disaster. Evidence of its use is expertly highlighted through the graphics. From the wide-open spaces of the bright, optimistic, clean, streets of the seventies, which devolve to the graffiti-laden streets of the 90’s to the dark, pessimistic streets of the post-apocalyptic damoclean future. The changes can easily be seen at the church. During the seventies its clean and somber, secure in its spiritual identity and function. During the nineties graffiti announces that an artist has taken up residence. In the future, sinister bright orange and yellows of the future portend the presence of a monster. Hector and Margaret are animated well. They move fluidly and easily, reminiscent of Disney’s greatest classics.

Sound-design enhances the magic enchanted by the graphics. The music and sound-effects always feel appropriate to the settings. I enjoyed the music in Hector’s lab. It sounds calming and slightly whimsical and suits Hector’s eccentric personality. The sound-design shines in the voice-acting. Hector sounds excited and eccentric. Margaret is calm and measured. They balance each other perfectly, which allows their chemistry to grow.

Hector and Margaret solve many puzzles and conundrums on their adventure. They grow organically from the plot and never feel superfluous. My favorite puzzle occurs in the finale, picking the right dialog to get Margaret’s parrot to perform a task. It’s a fun use for a parrot. My least favorite puzzle involves repairing pieces of an old newspaper to convince someone of the date. I couldn’t figure out how the pieces went together without help. Luckily, help came quickly.
