Completely Stretchy [Review]

Completely Stretchy is an unusual platformer with stunning graphics and visuals reminiscent of Rick and Morty’s Interdimensional Cable. All characters resemble the Terry Fold character, featuring eerie and unsettling eyes that relentlessly follow you when you get too close. The protagonist is a perpetually tardy worker who, after a workplace accident, transforms into a blue, stretchy being. Players are then tasked with stretching using physics-based* swings to various locations in the game to collect adorable, eclectic mites called Elektros. These mites are scattered and hidden throughout the chaotic sandbox, and players must return them to the glass dome at work.

Initially, players’ abilities are limited, as you can’t stretch far enough to grab or slap objects. However, as you progress through the game, they can gradually increase your stretch, making swinging and slapping more satisfying. The world itself is strange yet visually appealing, even with its creepy eyes. Each zone within the Grombi Isles has its own distinct identity, whether it’s bouncing around a neon-lit urban district, swinging through the forest, or navigating the chaotic remnants of the Elektro factory. Completely Stretchy truly stands out due to its unique visual art style and pastel graphics. I would love to see this game on the Nintendo Switch 2. Although it has a relatively short playtime of around 5 hours, I still highly recommend it.
