Nippon Marathon 2: Daijoubu [Review]

Nippon Marathon 2: Daijoubu, with its Early Access release, presents a substantial improvement over its predecessor while preserving the original game’s charm. However, the initial content is somewhat limited, featuring only three maps and lacking significant features. The story mode and party mode remain locked, and players can currently choose from five characters, with character creation also available.

Despite these limitations, the graphical overhaul is impressive, offering a more refined look to the beloved strange characters and infusing the chaotic stages with fresh energy. Nippon Marathon 2 captures the absurdity of Japanese game shows, providing a unique and entertaining experience.

For those seeking a multiplayer experience, this game is highly recommended. It’s a four-player Mario Kart-style game played on foot, featuring quirky characters, including an old man in a dress and a kid in a lobster outfit, racing to the finish line while dodging bizarre obstacles like random fish and cars. Developed by Onion Soup Interactive, the game shows promise, and with more content coming, it has the potential to become a standout title. As more updates are released I will re-review the game and provide a new score. As it currently stands, there isn’t a whole lot to do in this game at the moment.
