Bethesda officially kicks off their E3 journey this year with their press conference and began it with a bang. Not being a hardware company, Bethesda showed off a myriad of games to get us all hyped for the upcoming year and year to come. Let’s dig into a brief recap of what was shown off.
Coming hot off the heels of the initial Rage, Bethesda showed off and promoted the new entry in the series with a small rocking concert by Andrew W.K., playing the theme song for the game, Ready to Die. A collector’s edition for $120 was showed off and we can expect the game in 2019.
Bethesda picked up the Doom franchise and completely revamped what we should expect from the game in such an amazing way. Now with the first game blowing the hell out of our expectations they are looking to do it once again with Doom Eternal. Bethesda promises more demons, more violence, and more Hell on Earth.
Quake Champions is Bethesda’s new foray into the growing e-sports market, promising tournaments are QuakeCon and DreamHack. Furthermore, if you download the game this week it will be free to play forever.
Bethesda isn’t done with Prey yet, new DLC, named Mooncrash, comes out today that introduces three new game modes: Story, Survival, and New Game Plus. They also announced later on in the year there will be a multi-player DLC called Typhoon Hunter.
Wolfenstein II & Youngbloods
Bethesda made a brief mention that Wolfenstein II will be heading toward the Nintendo Switch later in the month, and then showed off their brand new co-op Wolfenstein game, Wolfenstein: Youngbloods. Release will be in 2019. Finally there is an announcement of a Wolfenstein VR game!
So much Fallout
There was a lot of Fallout news to take in for this conference. First off, the hit mobile game Fallout Shelter will be coming to Nintendo Switch and PS4 tonight, all for free. The big news is for Fallout 76 which will be a multi-player focused online game, to bring all characters together as real people. There will be a way to play the game solo so you don’t rely on others. The game play looks amazing and there was a lot of teasing about being about to procure your own nuclear weapon. A massive Power Armor Collector’s Edition was announced which include items such as a glow in the dark map, figures, and a wearable Power Helmet. In addition to that there will be an $80 Deluxe Edition of the game which includes the game and other in-game items. All of this capped off with a release date of November 14, 2018.
New Franchise: Starfield
Big news coming from the studio as they are working on a brand new franchise and IP called Starfield, not much else is known yet so details will come later.
All the Elder Scrolls
Finally we get notice of a brand new Elder Scrolls mobile game named Elder Scrolls Blades which promises to be a full-blown first-person RPG that has three different game modes: A rogue-like, a town building story mode, and a PvP arena. It will host character customization and allow for play in portrait mode. It is coming to iOS and Android, but Bethesda mentioned that they also want to bring it to PC, consoles, and VR. Elder Scrolls Legends, the digital card game, will be coming to Switch, PS4, and Xbox One with improved visuals. There will be new DLC content for The Elder Scrolls: Online. The big, massive announcement though was the release of Skyrim for Amazon Alexa, Motorola pagers, and smart fridges.
Oh, and something about Elder Scrolls VI, but who needs a new Elder Scrolls when you can get Skyrim on Alexa?
